Polyphony
Submitted by andrespang on Mon, 11/05/2007 - 11:48am.We announce the opening of Polyphony, the first public artwork from IDMI presented by Andres Pang which extends from Toronto to New York. Installed at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn and the Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto, Polyphony utilizes state of the art VOIP to broadcast sounds in public spaces from one city to another, allowing the listener-participant to be in two places at once in Real Time.
Arduino Hacklab

We spend enough time alone staring at our computers; we are proposing to work together. So often issues that arise when working can be solved with a quick two minute discussion that would take hours to solve alone. We have Dorkbot to see people's work, we have Share where anyone can play, we have workshops and universities to learn from. This is a meeting where we all can come to work.
NYC Patching Circle: Max/MSP, Pd, vvvv...

vade will be around with his wonderful shaders for Jitter and soon Pd/Gem, and Marius Schebella will be hacking on shaders for Pd/Gem. Hans-Christoph Steiner be there breathing easier after finally making a Pd-extended release...
This is an informal gathering of patching and patchers (Max/MSP/Jitter, Pure Data, and even vvvv, EyesWeb, etc.). Beginners and Experienced welcome. Open to everyone, students, the public, etc. Work on school projects, personal projects, ask for help, help others, or just patch quietly to yourself, in a room full of other people patching patches and helping other people patch.
vBrooklyn Video Festival November 30-December 2

New York Blender Conference 2007
Submitted by hans on Thu, 09/20/2007 - 12:04am.The New York City Blender Users's Group and Polytechnic University announce the 2007 New York Blender Conference, at the Polytechnic University Brooklyn campus, Saturday and Sunday October 20th and 21st starting at 10:00am both days. It's free and open to the public.
Blender is a free open source 3D content creation suite, available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License. It compares well to software like Maya or 3D Studio Max.
